DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

Kenowa Hills Public Schools is proud to announce Brooke Davis, LMSW as the district’s Director of Diversity, Equity, and Mental Health Services. Davis is a highly motivated leader, bringing extensive experience to this new position within the district, which will oversee District Mental Health, Behavior Improvement, and Diversity, Belonging, Equity, and Inclusion (DBEI).

Davis holds a Bachelor of Arts from Aquinas College and a Master’s in social work from Grand Valley State University. For the past 5 years, Davis has served as Social Worker at Zinser Elementary as well as MTSS/PBIS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports/Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports) Coordinator for the district. Through collaboration with leadership teams, Davis has developed numerous programs, events, and training that has supported student success. Prior to becoming a Kenowa Hills Knight, Davis successfully consulted with school districts in the areas of diversity, productive team development, crisis intervention, trauma-informed practices, and building a discipline model that increases achievement. This year, Davis will be celebrating 10 years in one of the most prestigious historically black Greek sororities, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. Phi Rho Zeta Grand Rapids Chapter.

“We are extremely excited not only to announce this new position, but to share that Ms. Davis has accepted this role,” said Superintendent Gerald Hopkins. “We have witnessed her live out her passion for mental health, diversity, belonging, and inclusion at Kenowa Hills and there is no one better suited to hit the ground running in this newly created role.”

Over the past few years, Davis has worked to integrate mental health and DBEI within the Kenowa Hills’ instructional framework. “I firmly believe that diversity, belonging, equity, and inclusion and mental health cannot be separate,” said Davis. Mental health is about feeling connected in an equitable and inclusive environment where you can thrive by being your true self.”
